The Metronome of Life

This post is about my insight I received into solving the mystery of life’s issues and understanding the balance of life.  The thought came to me that contrasting opposites, like black and white, are uniquely different from each other.  You need one to appreciate the other.

The result is the pendulum keeps on moving back and forth -- cause and affect.  As I understand it, a pendulum uses gravity to transfer potential energy to kinetic energy and back again.  When the pendulum reaches the bottom of its swing, it presses a small lever that causes it to click. The pendulum swings and keeps balance to life...everything happens for a reason.

Gravity vs Zero-Gravity
Giving vs Receiving
Loss vs Gain
Life vs Death
Balance vs Imbalance thrown out of equilibrium

Understanding the symbol of the metronome in my own life:
Metronome, a device used to help musicians play at a specific tempo, is a picture of balance and gravity.  When set in motion, it falls to one side as gravity pulls it beyond control.  The internal spring pushes it back to the other side, much like our spirit is empowered by God to help us bounce back from troubling times.

To Every Thing There is a Season - Ecclesiastes 3. 1-8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Gain is synonymous with achievement, therefore it is positive.
Loss, however, seems like a negative thing. Something beyond your control.

CONTROL....
You may not be able to control your losses but you have the power of choice regarding what controls you. You can choose to let go of the control. You are not responsible for controlling other people.  Even your children should be taught consequences for their behavior, thereby teaching them about the power of choice.  You are not responsible for controlling everything in your life. You are responsible for controlling yourself…your behavior, your choices, your actions.  You have the freedom and the power of choice. You have the power to choose what controls you.

Controlling clutter and changing personal nesting habits --
This move has forced me to deal with it and I'm very happy with the results through this experience.  I finally feel like I'm getting balanced in that area.

Now I need to concentrate on my weight, my physical issue of unbalanced lifestyle....overeating. After severely fracturing my left ankle, I was forced to confront my balance issue. As a very overweight person balance is an issue for me.
